User tips to Nokia Internet Tablets N800, N810 and N900
On this page we publish tips to the Nokia Internet tablets users running cumulus.
Checks to be done on ground before take off
- Before running Cumulus switch off automatic connection search for WLAN or any kind of automatic updates.
- Close all other programs which are not necessary to run.
- Do not start in parallel other navigation software, like wayfinder.
- Cumulus needs a lot of run-time memory for its own handling. Maybe it is useful to activate the usage of virtual memory under Settings-Control-Memory, Virtual. I did that with 128MB.
- If you want to use an external GPS Bluetooth receiver together with your N810, make the necessary configuration under Settings-Control-GPS-Location before running Cumulus.
Readability in sunshine
To get a better readability in sunshine the screen should be protected with an anti glare foile. I made good experiences with a Brandow screen protector to get e.g. via ebay for about 10€.
Device mount
To mount the Internet tablet at the cabin side of your glider in the near of your eyes you can use e.g. a Nokia Holder Easy Mount HH-12. It is moveable in all directions and has a good fix if you make the fix foot a little bit wet. I made good expreiences with that thing.
External power supply
As external power supply I use a 12V/7,2Ah Lead-Acid battery during flight. My Nokia Internet Tablet is connected via a 12V Nokia car adapter to the battery. That is only one possible solution but it make me independent of all.
