Where to get help?
There are a number of ways to get help. Once you have Cumulus installed on your PDA there is the on-device help document available. This document can be accessed by tipping on the ? button in the Cumulus title help bar but it is also available on this website. Please make sure you read first this document before you have questions to us.
Install Cumulus on a Linux PC
To install Cumulus on a Linux PC you have two possibilities:
- Make a checkout into your local environment from svn by using the command svn co https://svn.kflog.org/svn/repos/cumulus/qt4.
- Download a tar snapshot package from here and extract it by using the command tar jxf CumulusQt4-snapshot.tbz.
Futhermore you need the Qt class libraries release 4.5.x from Qt Software installed on your PC. If you have no installation package available from your Linux provider you can download a source package as tar file from here and do the build your self. Follow the build intructions given by Qt Software in the downloaded file.
To build Cumulus go into the root directory of it. There you can find a file named INSTALL. Read it and execute the instructions listed there.
Install Cumulus on your Internet Tablet N800/N810/N900
At the moment Cumulus is not to find in the Maemo repositories. To install Cumulus on your Tablet you have to download a Debian package from the Cumulus download side. Pick up the latest available package from here. A Cumulus Debian package looks like cumulus_2.x.y_armel.deb. It carries the extension .deb. Download a package of your choise to your Tablet. Then start the Maemo Program Manager on your Tablet, tip on the title bar and select the menu items Program->Install from File. Pickup your downloaded package and the program manager will do the rest.
If you have more experience you can make a login to your Tablet via ssh and install the cumulus package by using the Debian paket manager dpkg with the option -i. The command to be used is:
dpkg -i <cumulus-paket-version>.deb
On the Tablet Cumulus is installed under the path /opt/cumulus. You need no extra installation of the Qt libraries. Cumulus has contained them in its package and installs them in a way that conflicts will not happen with the Maemo OS.
Cumulus users mailinglist
If the documents supplied on this website and distributed with Cumulus can't help you, you can turn to our users mailinglist for support. This is also the place to submit bug reports or request features. Please take a moment to join our mailinglist and tell us about it there! To join, send a message with the word "subscribe" in the body to cumulus-request@kflog.org. You will receive a confirmation from our server with further instructions. The language used on this list is English. If you really can't explain yourself in English, you may use German but due to the international character of the list, we prefer English.
Don't worry, the list is pretty low trafic, so you're inbox won't be flooded. There is also an archive for the list.
